This Gold Skull bead was purchased in the London Bead Shop with possibly Chinese origin. It is molded from pewter, 11mm in size, and painted ‘antique gold’ colour. The skull can be used as a bead, and can be purchased for an inexpensive £1.15 individually, but can be discounted if purchased in quantity.
The gold memento mori pomander found in the Hunt Museum is dated 1679 with possible English origin. It is a container that can be opened using the clasp at the top. A thin sheet of polished gold separates the back and front of the skull, with the inscription: Man proposes but God disposes. Inside the skull there are four compartments for perfume or fragrant herbs.
