The green stone ring was purchased in Penneys. It only cost €3. The main body of the ring is made from low-cost metal with gold-filled. There are some fake cracks on the surface of the green stone. Obviously, the ring is an artifact which is using antique finishing. These kind of rings are mass produced. The purpose for people wearing them is only for decorating.
The rings in the Hunt Museum are made of precious metal like gold and silver. In the past, these antique rings highlighted the holder’s status and wealth. The material of the gem-inlay in these rings is either gem or rare coral. This ring had more use than simply as a decorative piece as it was also a stamp, for imprinting an insignia for example. In addition, antique rings often were inscribed with a message, which was related to the purpose and reason for wearing the ring.
