Jer Thorp – The Weight of Data

Posted on April 15, 2012 by Patrick under Final Project

This is a really interesting talk by Jer Thorp on the merits of data visualisation. Thorp talks about his desire to assess data from a human perspective and creates visualisations that attempt draw out the personal connections and relationships that exist within certain data sets. Of particular importance is that idea that data is tethered to the real world, carrying a ‘weight’ that makes it more than just a collection of numbers. Data is a consequence of lived experience.
